President's Welcome

  • Cara welcomed the new board and thanked last year's board

  • Cara asked for volunteers to fill our volunteer positions

    • Priscilla volunteered for Retreat Coordinator

    • Ashley volunteered for Festival of Trees Quilt Coordinator (Cathy already offered to help as well!)

    • Kathy Caldes, Jean Carver, and Kathy Aber volunteered for the Audit Committee

    • The Social Media Coordinator position is still open!


Visitor Welcome

  • Ashley, Member at Large, welcomed 1 visitor


Announcements & Upcoming Events

  • SEWN Swap quilts are due at (or before) the next meeting! Please clip a paper to it with your name/guild, the recipients name/guild, and any other info you'd like to share. You will also be asked to fill out a digital form later this month to help Rene with managing the swap (thank you Rene!)

  • Our 15th Anniversary Celebration will be held March 15 from 12-3 at the First Congregational Church of Winter Park (225 S Interlachen Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789).

  • Bylaws were revised and a new photo policy was created. Both can be viewed on our website.


Treasurer's Report

  • Report is available via the presentation (linked up top)

  • This year's member gift is a project pouch featuring our new logo!


Education

  • Members shared what they created during the Inspired by Art workshop with David Owen Hastings last month:



  • If there is an educator you would like to hear speak or a workshop you would like to do, please let Laura Chick (Education Coordinator) know!


Programming: New Website!

  • Raven shared the features of our new website. Poke around, let her know if you have any questions or requests for the site! The link at the top of this page includes what was covered in the website walkthrough with screenshots and instructions.


2025 Challenge - the 15th 15 Challenge!

  • See details in the presentation linked at the top of this page. Quilts are due at the September meeting.

Outreach Wrapup

  • An amendment to the posted slides - we donated 260 placemats in the last 2 years!


2025 Focus Ideas

  • We asked our members for focus ideas for 2025 (2024 was Modern Traditionalism and Improv). You said:

    • Color

    • Neutrals

    • Solids

    • Negative Space

    • Asymmetry

    • Non-square/rectangle quilts

    • Embroidery and embellishments

    • Alternative finishings (e.g. facing instead of binding, types of binding)

    • Modern Techniques

    • Data visualization quilts

  • Our guild leaders will be meeting prior to the April meeting, when our year's themes will be revealed!
