Cara invited members to share their quilts for the Winter Park Library program in July.
Information is now available for our retreat! Visit the event page to learn more.
Love shared information on our 15th Anniversary Shop Hop! Passports, which are required to get the discounts, were handed out at the meeting. If you were not able to attend the meeting but would like a passport, please email the guild (orlandomodernquiltguild@gmail.com) and we will mail you one.
We will be featured at the Orlando Public Library downtown in October and November. We will be looking for quilts to put on display. Priority is given to quilts related to the Orlando MQG in some way. Ellen to share more information next month.
We will be creating another t-shirt order soon! More to come.
Keep Orlando Beautiful is offering a volunteer opportunity to help kids make tote bags from t-shirts. This will occur every Wednesday morning in July. Learn more and sign up here.
Treasurer's Report
Ellen recently had her knee replaced so the June report is delayed.
Education
Caroline's Jacket class is almost full!
Bradie will host another Bag Making Class at the Casselberry Sew Day on August 23. She will be doing some demonstrations including how to add ribbon onto zipper tape and how to size patterns up and down. Sign up here. If you sign up for the class and find out you can no longer make it, please let us know so someone else can have the spot!
Bonus: Here is a link to the tiny scissors Bradie shared.
Programming - Printing on Fabric with Kelly Morton

Kelly shared the process for printing images onto fabric using an inkjet printer. She shared how she chooses images and how she uses freezer paper to keep fabric stable in the printing process. A few extra tips were shared in conversation:
Try using dye-ready muslin to help with colorfastness
Washing fabric before printing should help it hold
You can use canva.com to prepare images for printing
The website remove.bg will help with removing the background from images.
Community Outreach
We will be doing a project for Legal Aid soon - let us know if you are interested in participating! We are looking for 4 groups to each take on a small quilt. Altogether, the quilts will read "Equal Justice Under the Law". Visit the presentation deck for supporting imagery.
Pam and Kathy are gathering everyone to start talking about the 2026 QuiltCon quilt soon! Current plan is to discuss ideas at the July Maitland Sew Day.
Ashley will be sending the first Festival of Trees email soon!
